Dallas residents Paint the Town Purple

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This year, Councilmember Jennifer S. Gates, chair of the City of Dallas’ Domestic Violence Task Force, is raising awareness through the Paint the Town Purple campaign.

Paint the Town Purple encourages participants to support ending domestic violence by donating to domestic violence shelters and agencies to support victims, attending domestic violence awareness events in October or tying a purple ribbon around a tree or front door to show support for holding offenders accountable. The campaign also includes wearing purple on Wednesday, October 18 to be a visible sign of awareness.

Follow the campaign on Facebook at Dallas Domestic Violence Awareness Month, on Twitter @DallasDVTF and on Instagram @dallasdvtf with the hashtag #DVAwarenessMonth

Please see below for a list of locations where you can obtain a purple ribbon to tie around your tree for free, plus a calendar with events dedicated to raising awareness of domestic violence is attached.
