City Manager names Dominique Artis as Dallas’ new Fire Chief

Dallas City Manager T.C. Broadnax announced the appointment of Dominique Artis to the position of Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR) Fire Chief. Artis will begin leading the 2000-member department effective December 28, 2018.

As DFR’s new chief administrator, Artis will focus on ensuring the safety of all DFR personnel and continuing to deliver the best service to Dallas residents remains a top priority for the department.

A Dallas native, Artis served as DFR’s Assistant Chief of Administration and Training prior to his appointment. Over his 23-year career with the department, he rose up through the DFR ranks and has served in various capacities including Lieutenant over Fire Control and Rescue, Captain of EMS Administration, and Deputy Chief of Operations.
