Dallas Love Field Earns Level Two Carbon Accreditation

Dallas Love Field Earns Level Two Carbon Accreditation

Airports Council International and Airport Carbon Accreditation recently recognized Dallas Love Field with level two (reduction) carbon accreditation for taking steps to reduce its carbon footprint.

Love Field earned level one (mapping) accreditation a year ago after developing a Department of Aviation-wide policy statement on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and completing a verified carbon footprint for 2015.

In its promotion to level two accreditation, Love Field showed a reduction in carbon emissions in 2017 related to its average carbon emissions in 2015 and 2016. The airport also developed a carbon management plan, a requirement for level two accreditation.

“I am proud of the entire Aviation team, especially our Environmental group for reaching this accreditation,” Department of Aviation Director Mark Duebner said. “Reducing our carbon footprint is a pillar of the airport’s continued success, so this is a substantial achievement.

Airport Carbon Accreditation is the only institutionally-endorsed, carbon management certification standard for airports. Airport Carbon Accreditation has four levels of carbon reduction – mapping, reduction, optimization, and neutrality.

Love Field had 7.8 million enplaned passengers in 2017 and is expected to surpass the 8 million mark in 2018. With passenger growth continuing, Love Field is committed to reducing carbon emissions by 10 percent per enplaned passenger below 2015 levels by 2025.

Affordable Housing Expert teaches Tax Credit 101 class for City Staff and Policymakers

City staff and local policymakers learned how to better apply for federal and state tax credit programs from industry expert Diana McIver through her Tax Credit 101 class at Dallas City Hall on Tuesday, November 27.

“The Housing Tax Credit is the major funding tool for affordable housing in Texas today and the more informed a community can be on how to use this tool wisely and effectively, the greater its success in reaching affordable housing goals,” said Ms. McIver.

50 people attended the class and took home actionable information. The class was sponsored by the Office of Housing and Neighborhood Revitalization and Texas Real Estate Commission.

“This is a really incredible opportunity for people interested in learning how Tax Credits work, as well as how to best apply for them when developing projects or policy, said Dallas Housing and Neighborhood Revitalization Director David Noguera.
